A poem about `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez' By Varoujan Froundjian It all started when my daughter said, `Hey dad, let's talk Armenian'. `Armenian', I said, `OK, let's start' Yet, the only Armenian word came to my mind is; `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez'. Don't ask me why? May be it's a word sprung out from my childhood. I always loved that that word and regardless how long it was- I pronounced it with my lungs filled with joy and liveliness. But, now it's all about the `ZOO'. It's so easy to be at the, `ZOO' and have a blast all afternoon. It's so fun to be at the, `ZOO' and forget about life's troubles. I can see the elephants splashing fountains of water in the `ZOO'. I can see giraffes licking a young girl's cheeks in the `ZOO'. Yet the only Armenian word came to my mind is. `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez'. Don't ask me why? `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez'. A childhood dream-word turned into doubt. Which makes me ask- Are the animals well-fed in `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez'? And do the monkeys have trees to climb in `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez'? And do foxes tell funny jokes in `Gen-ta-na-pa-na-gan Ba-r-deeeeez'?
