	THE OTHER LEAF

	by Kevork K. Kalayjian, Jr.

	high on the clouds
	there was this one droplet
	of condensed clouds, almost liquid,
water it was, and as soon as
the milkiness of the steam in it
	began to disappear, the globule
started to see. And it was the
	first thing, the pear shaped
pearl of water saw, down there
high up on the very top of a tree
	a green leaf ...

	this leaf was different from
all the others, the ones on the same tree,
and the ones on the various nearby trees.
The water drop struggled and scavenged
More humidity and moisture, to gain weight,
to store more momentum for that essential journey
to reach, and land on that very special leaf.

The pearl shaped globule was full-grown drop now,
Impregnated with eagerness, overblown with anticipation,
filled with enthusiasm, finally freed itself from the cottony claws
of the clouds, and started the long journey
towards the one and only special green leaf.

The droplet declared its delectation, while traveling towards
The green leaf, full of rapture and excitement, the green leaf
In turn, opened to its fullest, to embrace and embosom that
special drop of water, their joyful screams filled the heavens
and the earth with the wildest shrieks of nature

the moment of truth was inevitable,
leaf and water, water and leaf, were coming
closer and closer, they had almost touched each other
when silently, the wind blew the branch aside, and ...
the raindrop fell on another leaf.
